International mindedness

To be open to the world we have to understand it.

The international mindedness idea or “international awareness”, is one of the key elements of IB education. This multi-aspect concept incorporates a way of thinking, being and acting, which is based on an open-minded attitude to the world, recognising our deep connections with others regardless of their language and cultural affiliation

The aim of all IB programmes is educating internationally minded individuals, for whom intercultural understanding, peaceful building of the common good on local and global scales as well care for our planet are some of the most important values.

At Da Vinci schools we provide students with an opportunity to become engaged in various projects and undertakings which support the international mindedness idea. Through such involvement young people are open to valuable experiences which shape their understanding, empathy and respect towards others.

IB education also furthers intercultural understanding by promoting multilingualism. All IB programmes require students to learn in more than one language. At Da Vinci we believe that such communication helps students appreciate and understand the fact that their mother tongue, culture and vision of the world are only one of many.

Service to the community is also an important element of shaping an IB student’s international awareness. It teaches taking responsibility for one’s own decisions and makes it possible to view problems from different perspectives.

At Da Vinci’s International Schools we are open to intercultural dialogue.
